Seasons are changing, and tis the time that people let me know they are not in the market for heavy scarves and blankets. Its problematic for me because although I love seasons, the dry sunny weather is a great time for washing wool and making larger items – using the garden to warp up my loom gives me extra length etc.
Anyway… Another problem I have with smaller items is they still take quite a long time to make. The time/value/cost equasion is one that often bothers me. People are fascinated that a blanket can take a week to make, and probably much longer if I calculated honestly – but what are my communities actually going to pay? I’m very keen to cultivate a ‘fair’ trade, a win win transaction where the buyer is happy with their purchase and I can continue making.
Er, back to the small works….

Right, this a chance for me to play on a smaller scale. Hand blended mixed fibres. Hand spun single yarn. Unspun felted fringe with corridale wool. Blanket pin. Circa 2/3 hours work, washing, drying, photographing… etc.
I want to offer them for sale as pay what you want… I wonder if I can set up a payment online where people can decide the fee. Hmm…
